Staff Expansion

(Raleigh, N.C.) Highlands Environmental
Solutions, Inc., a leading provider
of environmental services in the Southeast,
is expanding their presence in the
Triangle to meet the growing need
for their solutions-based approach
to environmental remediation. Highlands
has just added three experienced professionals
to the team and has signed a lease
to double their office space in the
newly renovated North Quarter Office
Park in north Raleigh.
Highlands Environmental Solutions
creates cost-effective geologic and
environmental solutions for a range
of environmental needs. Highlands
specializes in routine land assessments,
such as Phase I/II studies needed
in commercial real estate transactions,
remediation of contaminated water
and soil, and emergency response to
fuel and chemical spills. The Highlands
team works with a diverse group of
industries including insurance companies,
commercial real estate developers
and attorneys, mining and aggregate
corporations, transportation providers,
and retail petroleum outlets.

said Joe Beaman, president of Highlands
Environmental Solutions. “Insurance
companies, commercial real estate
developers, attorneys often want to
see their environmental problems solved
and stamped ‘case closed’

to make sure that challenges are met
and addressed – and not turned
into costly, long term monitoring
or ‘science’ projects.”
Among those recently hired at Highlands
Environmental Solutions:

 Sandy
Miller – Ms. Miller has worked
in the environmental sciences industry
for over 15 years and is an active
member of the Groundwater Professionals
of North Carolina. Ms. Miller has
extensive experience in environmental
assessments, technical oversight
for federal and state regulators,
Level IV Laboratory Data Validation,
and Brownfields redevelopment projects.
Additionally, she has worked with
clients in the petrochemical, natural
gas, and commercial development
industries as well as many private
clients.

 Tyrel
DeShong – Mr. DeShong has
extensive experience in field investigations
and waste management. Mr. DeShong
has worked with clients in the petrochemicals
and hazardous waste management industries.
Previously Mr. DeShong has worked
for environmental consulting firms
and a major hazardous waste management
and disposal company.
- Jim De Hamer – Mr. De Hamer
has worked in the insurance industry
for 30 years. He has his life/health,
property and casualty and long-term
care licenses. Previously, Mr. De
Hamer worked with The Farmers Insurance
Group of Companies and he also owned
his own insurance agency.
